Over here in Wankaner, things move at their own pace. Our shop, Hair Lien, sits right across from the Mushafarkhana, which is a landmark most people in town know well. If you’re looking for us, that’s the easiest way to explain where we are located. It’s a modest space, nothing like those big flashy places you see in the city center. We’ve got our mirrors, our chairs, and the usual tools. It stays fairly cool inside even when the sun is beating down on the street outside. People drop in throughout the day. Sometimes they have an appointment, but often they just walk in when they have a spare hour to get things cleaned up. We don’t do a lot of talking about ourselves; we just handle the hair. It’s a job like any other, and we try to do it right so people don't have to worry about how they look. The neighborhood is mostly families and folks working nearby, so we see a lot of the same faces every month. It feels like a small community inside the shop. You hear about the local news or what’s happening at the market while the clippers are running. We don’t have a big sign or anything, just the door open and the light on. It’s simple, it’s quiet most of the time, and it works for us. We’ve been in this spot for a bit, and we plan to stay here for as long as people need us.
