Darpan Hair Art

This shop is located on Kotharia Main Road, which is one of those places in Rajkot that never seems to sleep. There is always a tractor or a bike making noise outside our door. We call it Darpan because of the mirrors we have, but really it is just a plain room where we work. We have been here for years now and the walls have seen a lot of faces. It is a local spot for the men who live around the 360002 zip code. We do not have any air conditioning, just the ceiling fans that hum all day. Sometimes when it gets really hot, we take a break and get some cold water from the shop next door. It is a hardworking area and we try to work just as hard. The floor gets covered in hair pretty fast, so we are always reaching for the broom between customers. We do not do anything fancy, just standard cuts and shaves. People come in, tell us what they want, and we get to it. There is no soft music playing or fancy coffee. Just the sound of the scissors and the traffic from the road. It is a basic setup, but it works for us and it works for the people who come here. We know we are just one of many shops on this road, but we have our regulars who would not go anywhere else. That is enough for us to keep coming back every morning.
