Bhuvneshwari Foundry

Bhuvneshwari Foundry is situated at 1, Umakant Pandit Udyog Nagar, over in the Mavdi Plot area. It’s a place that’s always thick with the smell of casting sand and hot iron. We’ve been here for many years, and the building shows its age a bit, but it does the job we need it to do. Casting is a dirty business, and there’s no way around it. Your clothes end up dark gray by the end of the shift, and the dust gets into everything, including your hair. We have a set routine: preparing the molds, melting the scrap, and then the careful walk with the crucibles. It’s heavy work and it makes your back ache, but it’s what we know how to do. We don’t have a website or anything like that; word of mouth usually brings people to our door when they need something made. If a customer has a specific requirement, we just sketch it out on a piece of scrap paper and see if we can make a pattern for it. Sometimes the weather affects how the metal cools, so we have to watch the temperature very closely. The Mavdi Plot is full of shops like ours, all clanging away from morning till night. We just keep our heads down and focus on the flasks in front of us. It’s not glamorous work, but there’s a sense of satisfaction when a clean casting comes out of the sand after all that effort. We just keep the fire going and do our best with what we have.
