Alka Hair Dresser is situated on Sorathiyawadi Main Road, not far from the J K Mall. It’s a convenient spot in Rajkot for anyone who is out doing their errands or shopping nearby. The shop is a small, practical space where we spend most of our daylight hours. We have been here for a long time, so most of the residents in Sorathiawadi know exactly where to find us. Inside, it’s just a regular barber shop with the usual smell of talcum powder and aftershave. We don't have any fancy decorations or soft music playing. Instead, it’s usually just the sound of the traffic outside and the clippers inside. We focus on giving people the haircuts they want without making a big deal out of it. Most of our customers are men from the neighborhood who have been coming to us since they were kids. We have a few stools for waiting and some old newspapers to read if there is a line. The shop isn't very big, so things can get a bit tight during the evening rush. We don't take appointments, so it’s first come, first served. We try to work efficiently so nobody has to wait too long. It’s a steady life here near the mall, and we enjoy seeing our regular customers every few weeks. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing. There is always something to talk about while the scissors are moving.
