Ak Machine Tools

You can find us over at P-103 in the GIDC area of Metoda. We are right opposite Makrana Marble, so if you see all that white stone piled up, you know you’re close to Ak Machine Tools. The workshop is usually a bit greasy because that’s just what happens when you work with machines all day. We spend a lot of time on Kalawad Road, either heading in or grabbing something to eat nearby. The guys are always busy with the lathes and the grinding tools, and there is usually a lot of scrap metal lying around that we need to clear out. It’s loud and the air smells like oil and burnt metal, but we like it that way. We don't really do much marketing or anything like that; people usually find us because they need something fixed or a specific part made. Sometimes the machines act up and we spend the whole afternoon just trying to get one motor running again. It’s frustrating, but it’s part of the trade. We have a small corner for tea and water where we sit and talk about whatever is happening in the news. It’s not a corporate environment by any means. We wear old clothes and work with our hands until the shift is over. Then we lock up the gate and head home to do it all again.
