Aaradhana Hair Dresser

Our shop is tucked away in Madhav Complex on the ground floor. It’s right on Joyotinagar Main Road, not too far from Kalavad Road. Being near Cristal Mall means there is always a lot of movement outside, which we can see through our front window. We have a few chairs lined up, and they are usually occupied by people looking for a trim or a shave. The floor is almost never completely clean because we are constantly sweeping up hair between customers. We have those old-fashioned mirrors that have seen better days, but they do the job just fine. Usually, the TV in the corner is tuned to the news or a cricket match while we work. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, so the ceiling fans are always spinning at full speed. We know most of the people who walk through the door; they are neighbors or shopkeepers from nearby units in the complex. Some people come in just to sit and chat for a while before they actually get in the chair. We keep our combs and scissors in those blue plastic jars with disinfectant. It’s not a fancy salon with soft music; it’s just a place to get your hair cut and hear some local gossip. We open up early in the morning before the mall gets busy and stay until the streetlights come on. It’s a steady rhythm that we’ve grown to like over the years.
