We are situated in Village-Khardevli, near Gadab, right along the Mumbai-Goa Road in the Pen taluka. It’s a scenic area in some ways, but it’s also a very busy corridor for transport. We are part of the H.R Johnson division, so we deal with a lot of tile and ceramic products here. The warehouse is a big part of our daily life. We spend hours walking the long aisles, checking stock, and getting things ready for the trucks that head out towards Mumbai or down the coast. The humidity here can be quite high, especially during the monsoon season when everything stays damp for weeks. We have a small crew and we’ve all grown used to the pace of work. It’s a lot of careful handling because the items we move can be fragile and heavy. You can hear the traffic on the highway all day, which reminds us how connected we are to the rest of the region. Sometimes the monkeys from the nearby trees come by to see what we’re doing, which is a bit of a distraction for the guys. Our setup is simple and focuses on getting the work done. We don’t bother with corporate talk or anything like that. We just focus on the orders, the inventory, and making sure the loaders know what they are doing. It’s a decent place to work, even with the long hours and the heavy lifting we do daily.
