The Byke A Hotel Retreat

Matheran is a funny place because you can't bring any cars into the town. We are right on M.G. Road, and you have to walk or take a horse to get here from the station. The Byke A Hotel Retreat has been around for a long time now. The building has that old forest feel to it, mostly because we are surrounded by so many trees. It gets really quiet at night, almost too quiet if you are used to the city noise. The monkeys are always around, so you have to keep your windows shut or they will just walk in and take whatever they see on the table. It is not a shiny new place with glass walls; it is more like a big old house that was turned into a retreat. The red dust from the trails gets everywhere, no matter how much we clean the floors. People come here when they just want to stop hearing engines for a few days. The rooms are basic, enough to sleep and keep your bags. We do not have fancy elevators or anything like that. Just some stairs and a lot of greenery. Sometimes the electricity goes off if there is a big storm, but that is just how it is in the hills. Most people just sit on the porch and watch the rain or the monkeys. It is a simple life out here in Raigad district. You walk from the station, find M.G. Road, and eventually, you will see our gate.
