M.K Masale

M.K Masale is located in Nave Nagar, over in the Salvadnaka area of Mahad, Raigad. We are right near the Maruti Mandir, which is a very central spot for this neighborhood. The smell of different ground spices usually lets people know they are getting close to our place. We handle everything from grinding to packing right here. The machines can be a bit loud, so it’s never really quiet inside during work hours. We have bags of raw ingredients stacked up against the walls, waiting to be processed. The floor is usually covered in a fine layer of spice dust, no matter how much we sweep. It’s a hot and busy environment, especially during the summer months in Raigad. We don't have an air-conditioned office or any fancy reception area. It’s a working shed where the real labor happens. We wear simple clothes and get our hands dirty every single day. The Maruti Mandir is just a stone's throw away, and we often see the crowds gathering there in the evenings. Our work is repetitive but it’s what we know. We make sure the packets are weighed correctly on our old scale before they go out. It’s a very manual process, but it works for us. We’ve been in Nave Nagar for a while and the locals know us by the scents coming from our door. We keep a small water tank out back for washing up after a long shift. It’s just how we do things.
