Saukhyada Sarees

We’ve been here at Sadashivkripa in Kelkar Wadi for a while now. Most days start the same way, unlocking the door at No. 102 and checking if everything is in its place. Joglekar Naka gets pretty busy during the afternoons, so we try to get the dusting and folding done early. There is always a lot of fabric around, piled up or draped over the counters, and sometimes it gets a bit messy when we are busy. It’s just how it goes here. People from the neighborhood stop by, sometimes just to say hello or ask about something they saw in the window last week. We don’t have a big fancy team or anything like that. It’s just us working through the stacks and making sure the shop stays open for whoever needs to come in. The light in this part of Dr. Kelkar Wadi is quite nice in the mornings before the sun gets too high and things get hot. We spend a lot of time just organizing the shelves because things have a way of getting mixed up when people are looking through the different colors and patterns. It’s a lot of manual work, honestly. My hands are usually tired by the end of the day from handling all the heavy cloth. We don’t really do much advertising or anything, we just stay here at the shop and wait for the regulars to show up. It works out fine for us. It is just a normal shop life.
