Deva Kaarya

Our place, Deva Kaarya, sits right near the private bus stand in Vittal. You can also find us by looking for the Shri Panchalingeshwara Temple, as we are quite close to it. Being in Puttur, things move at a slightly slower pace than the big cities, and we like it that way. The sound of the buses coming and going is the background music to our day. We see a lot of travelers passing through, along with the local people who come for temple visits. The shop is simple, with just enough room for us and the items we keep. We don't go in for big displays or bright neon signs. A lot of the time, the neighbors stop by just to say hello or check on the news. It gets a bit rainy during the monsoon, and the ground outside can get muddy, but we just keep the floor swept. We aren't trying to be the biggest business around. We just want to be a steady part of the Vittal community. The temple bells ring at certain times of the day, which is a nice reminder of where we are. We don't have any complicated systems. If someone needs something, we help them find it. It’s a small operation run by people who grew up in this area. We take things as they come and try to keep a friendly face for everyone who walks through the door near the bus stand.
