Acc Limited, Damodhar

Out here in Purulia, specifically in the Madhukunda area, things move a bit differently than in the big cities. We are Acc Limited, Damodhar, and we run the Damodar Cement Works. Our post office is Sunuri, which is a short distance away. This part of West Bengal is where we’ve set up our base. It’s an industrial sort of area, as you’d expect for cement work. The environment is practical. There’s dust and trucks and a lot of movement every day. We don't have a fancy lobby or anything like that. Our staff is mostly local people who know the district well. We deal with the production and the logistics from this site. It’s hard work and the days are long, especially in the summer. We don’t use a lot of big words to describe what we do. We just make cement and get it to where it needs to go. The Madhukunda location is essential for our operations in this region. Sometimes the roads can be a bit rough after the monsoon, but the trucks keep moving. We’ve stayed here because it makes sense for the business. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s steady. We keep to ourselves and focus on the daily output. If you ever find yourself in this part of Purulia, you'll see the plant from a distance. It is just a big place where we do our daily labor.
