Sushil Kumar Kataruka

My shop is located in Cheliama Bazar, which is part of the Raghunathpur-II block in Purulia. I go by the name Sushil Kumar Kataruka, and this place has been my second home for many years. Cheliama is a quiet town, but the bazar is where everything happens. I keep my doors open from morning until late evening most days. It is a general trade business, so I see all kinds of people from the nearby villages coming in to get what they need. The shop is quite small and filled to the ceiling with various items. I don’t have a big staff, just one younger guy who helps me move the heavy stuff. Purulia can be very dry and hot, so I usually have a fan going, though it doesn't do much when the temperature really climbs. I like being in the Raghunathpur area because the people are friendly and we all know each other’s business anyway. I don’t bother with fancy displays or marketing tricks. I just put the items on the shelf and tell people the price. Sometimes we sit on the stools outside and talk about the weather or the price of rice. It’s a basic life, but I’ve raised my family doing this. If you are ever passing through Cheliama, you’ll see my sign near the main crossroads of the bazar.
