Out here in Pipli, things move at a slightly different pace than in the big cities. We are located near the police station in Pipli, which is a well-known stop on the way to Puri in Orissa. While most people stop in this area for the famous applique work, we are busy with the more industrial side of things, handling Ultratech Cement. The humidity can be quite something, and the rain during the monsoon season makes keeping the stock dry a constant job. Our building is a simple one, nothing special to look at, but it serves its purpose for storing bags and keeping the records straight. We have a small group of workers who have been with us for a while, and we all know the drill. When the trucks arrive from the plant, it’s all hands on deck to get them unloaded. The dust is just part of the environment, and you stop noticing it after a while. We talk to the local contractors who are building around the Puri district, and we’ve seen a lot of changes in the landscape over the years. It’s hard work, especially when the sun is high, but there’s a certain satisfaction in seeing the bags leave the yard for a new project. We don't have a fancy reception or anything like that. You just walk in, tell us what you need, and we figure out the logistics.
