Sitaram Mukherjee

I’ve been working out of the Main Market in Guskhara for a long time now. My name is Sitaram Mukherjee and this is where I spend most of my life. The market is always a busy place, especially in the mornings when everyone is out buying what they need for the day. My shop isn’t very big, but it’s packed with whatever I’m currently dealing in. It’s in the Burdwan district, so we get people coming in from the nearby villages as well as the town folks. I don't have a big staff, usually just me and maybe a boy to help move things around. People know where to find me if they need something specific. We talk about the weather or the price of goods while I work. There isn't any fancy computer system here; I mostly use my old notebook to keep track of who owes what. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it has worked for years. When the power goes out, which happens sometimes, we just light a lamp and keep going. The floor is concrete and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it doesn't matter much. It’s a practical space for a market business. I close up when the sun goes down and head home, then do it all again the next day. It is just a steady life here in the middle of the market.
