Good Food

Our little place is called Good Food and we are located right on Hutton Road in Pathak Bari. Being so close to the bus stand means we have people coming in and out at all hours of the day. It’s in the Paschim Burdwan district, and it’s about as busy as you would expect for a spot near a major transport hub. The air is always full of diesel fumes and the sound of drivers shouting their destinations. Inside, we try to keep things simple with just a few tables and some chairs that don't always match. We spend our mornings chopping vegetables and getting the stove going. The kitchen is small and it gets very hot once we start cooking, so we usually have a couple of loud fans blowing all the time. The floor is made of grey tiles that we have to mop several times a day because of all the mud people track in from the street. It’s not the kind of place where you’d go for a fancy dinner, but it’s where people stop when they are hungry and in a hurry. We don't have a big menu, just some basic stuff that we know how to make well. Sometimes we run out of certain items by the evening, and we just have to tell people to come back tomorrow. It’s a lot of work but we like being part of the hustle in Pathak Bari.
