Youth Planet Tailors

You’ll find us at number 5 in the Milleniom Tower building. We’re right across from Hotel Panchvati and Gourav Surat Singh Estate in the Shivaji Nagar area. Youth Planet Tailors is a small shop, and it’s usually packed with rolls of cloth and half-finished garments. The sound of the sewing machines is pretty much constant from the moment we open the doors. We’ve been in this part of Shivaji Nagar for a long time, so we’ve seen a lot of changes in the neighborhood. Our shop hasn't changed much, though. It’s still just us, our measuring tapes, and a lot of pins. We don't have a fancy showroom with mannequins in the window. Most people just walk in with a piece of fabric and a rough idea of what they want. We spend hours cutting and stitching, trying to get the fit just right. Sometimes the iron gets too hot or a needle breaks, and we have to take a minute to fix things. It’s a lot of manual labor and it requires a lot of patience. We don't use any fancy computer programs to design things. We just do it by hand like we’ve always done. It’s a quiet, steady kind of life. We enjoy seeing people walk out with something that fits them well. It’s just a local tailor shop doing its part in the community.
