Anandraj Wood Furniture

Our workshop is located at No. 32/4 in the Kharadi Industrial Area, out towards Wagholi. It's a dusty place because of all the sawing and sanding we do. We’ve been making furniture here for a long time. People usually come to us when they need something solid that isn't made of plastic. We have stacks of wood everywhere, mostly teak and some mango wood. The floor is always covered in sawdust no matter how much we sweep. It’s just part of the job. My father started this and now we just keep it going. We don’t have a fancy showroom with bright lights. If you want to see what we’re making, you just walk into the shed and look at the workbenches. Sometimes we’re working on a big dining table, other days it’s just some small chairs. The noise from the machines can be quite loud, so we usually have to shout to hear each other. We take orders, write them down in a big ledger, and get to work. Delivery can be a bit slow sometimes because the traffic in Wagholi is getting worse every year. We don't mind the wait. We just focus on the wood. It’s hard work and our hands are always rough, but it’s what we know how to do. We close up on Sundays to rest and clean the tools.
