Udaykirti

Udaykirti is just our small spot here in Kothrud, right on Sangam Press Road. Most people know the area because of the City Pride Multiplex just down the way. We’ve been around this part of Pune for a while now, watching the traffic go by every day. It gets pretty loud outside with all the cars and people heading to the movies, but inside it’s just us doing our usual work. We open up the shutters early in the morning, sweep the front, and get things ready for whoever walks in. Sometimes it’s a neighbor looking for something specific, and other times it’s someone just passing through who got lost looking for the theatre. To be honest, we don’t have any fancy displays or anything like that. It’s mostly just shelves filled with stuff people actually need. We know most of the regulars by name, and we usually know what they want before they even ask. It’s a simple way to run a business, but it works for us. The rain in Pune can be a bit much sometimes, making the road outside all muddy, but we keep the shop going regardless. There’s always something to organize or a box to unpack. We don't spend much time worrying about being modern; we just focus on keeping the place tidy and being here when the lights go on. It's just a regular shop in a busy part of town, really. We just take things one day at a time.
