Hakimi Designer

Hakimi Designer is found at Office No. 93 in Patil Plaza, which is right in the Swargate area. Patil Plaza is a well-known building, so it’s not too hard for people to find us. The office is on one of the upper floors and we have some sewing machines and cutting tables set up inside. It’s often a bit cluttered with fabric scraps and measuring tapes lying around. Swargate is one of the busiest spots in Pune, with the bus stand nearby, so the whole area is always buzzing. We spend a lot of time talking to people about their clothes and making sketches on bits of paper. It’s not a fancy boutique with mannequins in the window. It’s more of a workspace where the actual designing and tailoring happens. The light in the office is okay during the day, which helps with the stitching. We have a few cupboards where we keep the finished outfits waiting for pickup. Sometimes the lift in the building is a bit slow, so we end up waiting a while or just taking the stairs. We’ve been in this office for a good amount of time and we know the other people who have offices in Patil Plaza. It’s a practical place to work. We don't have a big marketing plan, we just rely on people liking the work we do and telling their friends. It keeps us quite busy throughout the year with different orders.
