Stone & Stone

We've been running Stone & Stone here on Manjari Pune Solapur Road for a while now. The yard is usually full of slabs and pieces of rock waiting to be moved. It’s a lot of physical work, honestly. Every morning we open up the gates at 86/B and start checking what needs to go out to the sites. Some days the sun is really beating down on the granite, making it hot to touch, but you get used to that after a few months. People stop by looking for something specific for their floors or walls, and we just show them what’s sitting in the back. Sometimes the trucks get stuck in the traffic on Solapur Road, which is always a bit of a headache. We spend a lot of time just cleaning up the dust because cutting stone makes a huge mess everywhere. There isn’t much fancy about the place. It’s just a workspace with some heavy machinery and a small area for paperwork. The guys here have been doing this long enough that they know the difference between the good stuff and the pieces that have hidden cracks. We just try to keep the inventory moving and make sure the deliveries actually get to where they’re supposed to go without too much trouble. Most of our neighbors are doing similar things, so it’s a busy part of the road with lots of loading and unloading going on. The neighbors know us by the sound of the saws running in the afternoon.
