St Andrews Institute Of Medical Sciences is tucked away inside the N M Wadia Hospital Campus. Being at number 283 in Shukrawar Peth means we are right in the thick of things. There is always a lot going on because it is a hospital setting. You see people in white coats and nurses running back and forth all day long. The smell of the hospital is something you just get used to after a while. Our students are usually busy with their books or practicing things they’ve seen in the wards. It is a serious place because medical stuff is always serious. Shukrawar Peth is a crowded part of town, so getting here in the morning can be a bit of a challenge with all the bikes and people. The institute itself is just a few rooms and labs where the work happens. We don't have much time for sitting around. Most of the staff has been here for a long time and they know how the hospital runs. It’s not like those fancy colleges you see in movies; it’s more about the practical side of things. We have a lot of charts on the walls and old medical equipment that still works fine for teaching. Sometimes the power goes out and we just have to wait it out. It is a busy, functional place that keeps us on our feet every day until the evening shift changes.
