Spicer Higher Secondary School

Out on Aundh Road, right near the Ganeshkhind post office, is where you will see our gates. Spicer has been a landmark in this part of Pune for ages. The campus is full of big, old trees that provide a lot of shade when the sun is beating down in the afternoon. People often use the school as a reference point when they are giving directions to someone lost. Inside, it is a bit of a maze if you are not used to the layout. The buildings have that solid, old-fashioned look to them. We do not go for anything too flashy or modern here. The classrooms have wooden benches and blackboards that have been wiped down a thousand times. Our staff mostly lives nearby or takes the bus in every morning. It is a steady, predictable routine. You see the same faces at the tea stall outside the gate every morning before the first bell rings. We have students coming from all over the city, so the entrance is always a bit chaotic at 8 AM. We have a lot of space for the kids to run around during their break, which is good because they have a lot of energy to burn. Sometimes we host events on the grounds and the whole neighborhood can hear the music. It is a practical place. We do not spend much on fancy decorations. Most of the work goes into keeping the roofs from leaking.
