Shital Provision Store

We've been at the Kothrud Nanded Phata spot on Sinhagad Road for a good while now. It’s number 84/165 if you’re looking for the exact door. Most people around here just know us as the place to grab whatever they ran out of at home. It gets busy in the mornings when folks are heading out and again when they're coming back from work. We try to keep the shelves stocked with the usual stuff like lentils, rice, soaps, and those little packets of biscuits kids always want. Sometimes the deliveries are late or the weather makes things a bit slow, but we’re usually here behind the counter from early on. It’s a small space, so things can get a bit crowded when three or four people are inside at once. We know most of the faces that walk through the door by now. The rain sometimes leaks near the front door during the monsoon, so we have to keep a bucket there and remind people to watch their step. My wife usually brings me lunch around two o'clock, and that’s the only time I really step away from the counter for more than five minutes. We try to keep the milk cold in the back fridge, though it’s a bit old and hums loudly all day. People ask for bread every morning, and if the bakery truck is late, I have people asking me where it is. We don't have fancy scanners, so we still do most of the math on a small calculator.
