Sharmilla Bhingarwalla Cultural Institutes

The institute is tucked away in Shivaji Nagar, specifically in Bungalow No 3 over at Mantri Kishor Park. If you know the Range Hills Road area, you’ll find us easily enough on the Pune Satara Road stretch. It’s an old-style bungalow which makes the whole atmosphere feel a bit more relaxed than a standard office building. We use the different rooms for various cultural activities, whether it's music or dance or other traditional stuff. Usually, there's some kind of sound coming out of the windows, like a tabla or someone practicing their steps. Sharmilla Bhingarwalla Cultural Institutes isn't a factory; it’s more of a place where people spend their evenings learning something new. The garden outside is nice, though we probably should trim the bushes more often. Most of us here have been involved in the local arts scene for a long time. We know the neighbors and they’re used to the noise by now. It gets busy on weekends when the kids have their classes, and the driveway gets a bit crowded with cars. We try to keep things moving and stay helpful. It’s a lot of work running a place like this out of a house, but it feels right for what we do. You won't find any shiny lobbies or receptionists in suits here. Just people who enjoy the culture and want to share what they know with whoever shows up to learn.
