About Sangeet Kala Prabhodhani – Art & Craft in Pune
We are located over in Kothrud, right on Bhandarkar Road. It’s a nice enough spot, though parking can be a bit of a headache sometimes during the busy hours. Sangeet Kala Prabhodhani has been around for a bit, and we’ve seen a lot of people come and go. It’s mostly just a few of us here who really care about the traditional side of things. We don't have a big glossy brochure or a website that looks like a movie poster. It’s just a place with some instruments, a few mats on the floor, and a lot of patience. Sometimes the tea runs out before the last class, which is a bit of a shame, but we manage. People in Kothrud know us as that place where you can hear the tabla or a flute late in the afternoon. We don’t push anyone too hard; we just want people to enjoy the learning process. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’d rather spend the money on fixing the instruments or getting new strings. It’s a local place, run by local people. We know most of our students by name and usually their parents too. If you’re walking down Bhandarkar Road, you’ll see our small sign. It’s nothing impressive to look at from the outside, but inside, we’re always busy with something or other. We're just trying to keep the traditions alive in our own small way.
