Madhavi Kanitkar

I set up my space at 212 Narayan Peth quite some time ago. My name is Madhavi Kanitkar, and this is where I spend most of my daylight hours. Narayan Peth is a busy spot, always filled with people moving from one place to another. My office is a small room on the second floor. It's not a place with a view, but it's quiet enough for me to get my work done. I have a small table for visitors and a larger one where I keep my files and computer. The floor is a bit uneven, but you don't notice it after a while. I don't have a receptionist, so when the bell rings, I'm the one who gets up to see who it is. Most of the time it's someone I've known for years. We talk about the weather or the local events before we get down to the reason they came by. I like the independence of working this way. There isn't a boss looking over my shoulder, and I don't have to follow any corporate rules. I just do the work honestly and try to be helpful. The afternoon sun makes patterns on the wall through the window slats. It’s a simple environment. I’ve lived around here for most of my life, so being in this neighborhood feels very natural to me. It's just a regular office for a regular person.
