You can find us at 425 Shukrawar Peth. Samajbhushan Baburao Jethe College Of Arts Science has been part of this neighborhood for quite some time now. It’s an old building, the kind you see a lot of in this part of the city. We have different departments for arts and science, but it all feels like one big house sometimes. The hallways are narrow and the stairs are well-worn from all the students walking up and down. We don't have any of those glass elevators or shiny lobbies. It’s just wooden benches and old chalkboards in many of the rooms. The staff room is always a bit cluttered with papers and tea cups. We just get through the syllabus and try to make sure the exams go off without a hitch. It’s a lot of work, especially during the admission season. People from the Peth area know us well. We don't go out of our way to advertise. The students just show up because their siblings or parents came here too. It’s a local institution. The bells ring for the periods, the students hang out near the entrance, and we just keep the place running day after day. It’s not a fancy corporate college. It’s just a place where people come to get their degrees and move on with their lives. We handle the registrations and the marking and everything else that comes with it. It’s a steady job that keeps us busy year round.
