Pushpa Hardware Stores

Pushpa Hardware Stores is in Gulab Niwas, on the 7th Road of Vitthal Wadi in Akurdi. It is a packed shop. We have bins full of nails, screws, and all sorts of metal bits. There are pipes leaning against the walls and cans of paint stacked up. It is a bit dusty, but that is hardware for you. I have been running this place for years. I know exactly which drawer holds the right size bolt. People from the neighborhood come in when something breaks at home. I spend a lot of time explaining how to fix a leaky tap or which glue to use. It is a noisy street, but inside it smells like iron and wood. We do not have a fancy display. Everything is just where it fits. My son helps out after school sometimes. We open early because that is when the workers need their supplies. It is a lot of counting and weighing things out. I like talking to the regulars. We hear all the news about what is happening in Akurdi. It is a simple way to live. We do not have any big goals other than keeping the shelves full. If you need a hammer or a bucket, we have probably got it somewhere in Gulab Niwas. It is just a hardware store, nothing fancy. We stay open until the sun goes down and then we head home.
