Prabhu Marbles

We opened Prabhu Marbles here in Bibwewadi quite some time ago. If you know the area near Pushpamangal Karyalaya, you know how busy Spencer Road gets. It’s mostly us moving heavy slabs around and making sure things aren't chipped. Stone is heavy and messy work. Most days are spent talking to contractors or people trying to figure out what looks okay for their floors. We don’t have a fancy showroom with lights. It’s just stacks of marble and granite. Sometimes the dust gets everywhere, but that’s the nature of the business. We get up early to open the shutters and stay until the last truck is loaded. Most people around here know us because we’ve been sitting in this same spot for years. Dealing with stone requires some patience. You can't rush it. We mostly just focus on keeping the stock ready. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting and shifting. We try to keep things organized but with marble slabs, it's always a bit of a jigsaw puzzle. Bibwewadi has changed a lot since we started, but the work stays the same. People come in, look at the patterns, and we tell them what we have in the yard. There isn't much more to it than that. Just a local shop doing the usual daily stuff. We’ve seen many houses in this neighborhood get built using what we keep here. It feels like part of the local scenery now and we just keep on with the heavy lifting.
