P.J. Businesspagesctronics is located in Unit A/24 of the Mavlankar Industrial Estate at 45 Dr Ambedkar Road. It’s a tight space near the RTO. If you’ve been to this part of Mumbai, you know how crowded it gets. Our unit is basically a room full of soldering stations and electronic components. The name on the board is a bit of a mouthful, but we just focus on the work. We handle all sorts of circuit boards and small electronic repairs. The light in the workshop is a bit dim, so we use those big magnifying lamps to see the tiny connections. It’s quiet work, mostly just the sound of the soldering iron and the radio playing in the corner. Outside, the RTO chaos is constant, but inside we just concentrate on the boards. Sometimes a customer brings in a vintage piece of gear they want fixed, and we have to hunt for parts that aren't made anymore. My desk is always a mess of capacitors and resistors. We don't have a receptionist, so if the phone rings, one of us just wipes our hands and picks it up. We aren't looking to become a giant company; we just like the technical challenge of fixing things that other people say are dead. The tea guy comes by twice a day, and that’s the highlight of the afternoon. It’s just a regular local business.
