Paras Crockery

We’ve been here at Plot No 94/6 in Sector 10 for quite a while now. Most people know us because we're right near Inox Air Systems. It’s a busy spot on the 22 Mv Road. We mostly deal with plates, bowls, and all kinds of kitchen stuff. People come in looking for a single replacement mug or a whole set for a wedding gift. It gets dusty out here sometimes with the traffic from Bhosari Nigdi, but we try to keep the glass shining. My father started this because he liked the way a good dinner set looked on a table. Now I’m the one dusting the shelves every morning before the sun gets too high. We don't have fancy displays like those malls in the city. It’s just stacks of boxes and shelves full of ceramics. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the front, and we have to move things around. If you’re driving down from the Nigdi side, you might miss the turn if you aren't looking for the landmark. We keep a lot of local tea shops supplied with those small glasses. It’s not a complicated business. We buy what we think people need for their kitchens and hope they like the patterns. Some days are slow, just me and the radio, and other days the shop is full of families arguing over which color plates look better for their new house. We just stay here until the shutters go down at night.
