MURPHY BATTERY CORPORATION

Our workshop is located at 80/3 and 32/3 on the Pune Sholapur Road. It’s a gritty part of Wanowrie with a lot of heavy vehicles passing by all day. Murphy Battery Corporation is basically a place filled with the smell of lead-acid and heavy crates. We handle batteries for everything from small cars to huge industrial trucks. It’s physical work. Moving those things around is no joke; they’re heavy and you have to be careful with the acid. The shop floor is usually a bit damp from washing down the casings. We have charging stations lined up along the back wall, and they hum all day long. Sometimes the power fluctuates and we have to check the fuses. It’s not a clean office job. My hands are usually stained with something that doesn’t wash off easily. Customers come in when their vehicles won't start in the morning. They’re usually in a hurry, so we have to work fast to test their old unit and see if it can be salvaged. We don't have a fancy showroom, just racks of black plastic boxes and some testing equipment. The Pune heat can get intense, especially with the chargers running, but we leave the big shutters open to get a breeze. We’ve been on this road for a long time, and we know most of the local drivers and fleet owners by name now.
