Mehta Ceramics

Our shop is right there at 15th August Chowk in Somwar Peth. If you know the Jain Mandir, then you’ve probably walked past our door a dozen times. It’s a busy spot, especially in the mornings when everyone is heading to the temple or the market. We have been sitting here at number 304 for years, surrounded by stacks of tiles and various ceramic pieces. It’s a bit of a squeeze inside sometimes because we try to keep a lot of stock on hand. You’ll see dust on the shelves, but that’s just the nature of the business. My brother and I handle most of the customers. Some people come in knowing exactly what they want for their bathroom or kitchen, while others just stare at the patterns for an hour. We don’t mind. We aren't here to push anyone into buying something they don't like. We just show them what we have in the back and let them decide. The tea stall next door is where I spend my breaks when the shop is quiet. It’s a local life, and we know most of the people on this street by name. Somwar Peth has changed a lot since we opened, but the way we handle the ceramics stays pretty much the same. We just pack them carefully and hope the roads aren't too bumpy for the delivery.
