Maratha School Anganwadi Kendra

The Maratha School Anganwadi Kendra is tucked away near Sane Guru Ji Hospital in Hadapsar. If you know the Pune 411028 area, you know how busy the streets can get around here. Our center is a humble spot where the local kids from the neighborhood come every day. It’s not a big building, just a few rooms where we keep the mats and the basic teaching tools. We spend a lot of time talking to the mothers from the nearby houses. The children are quite small, so there is a lot of running around and general chaos. We serve midday meals, and the smell of hot food often fills the space around noon. The floor is where most of the activity happens, whether it’s playing with wooden toys or sitting down for a story. Sometimes the rain in Pune makes the entrance a bit muddy, but we just put down some gunny bags and keep going. We don’t have fancy computers or a big playground; the kids mostly play in the open space right outside the door. The furniture is old and the paint on the walls is peeling a bit in the corners. It’s a very local operation run by people who live just a few streets away. We know the names of almost everyone who walks past our door. It’s just a simple, honest place for the little ones to stay busy during the day. We have some storage bins for their bags and a small desk for our registers. It is a noisy but happy place.
