Mahesh Trader

Mahesh Trader is down at Akurdi Sanjay Mittal Estate on Marol, Andheri Kurla Road. It’s more of a warehouse and office feel than a regular shop. We have a lot of stuff moving in and out because of where we are located. The estate is always busy with trucks and vans, so there is a lot of noise and shouting from the loading areas. Inside, there are big metal racks with boxes piled up. We keep a desk near the front where we handle the paperwork and talk to people who come by for business. The air is often a bit dusty because of all the boxes and the traffic on Andheri Kurla Road. We spend a lot of the day checking lists and making sure things are in the right place. It’s not the kind of place where you’d come to browse; it’s more about getting the work done. The floor is concrete and can be quite cold in the mornings. We have a small kettle for making tea when it gets quiet. The light is mostly from the overhead tubes, which flicker a bit sometimes. Being in Sanjay Mittal Estate means we are right in the middle of all the industrial activity. It’s a practical space for trading and we don’t spend much time on decorations. It is just about the goods and the orders we have to manage every single day. I usually wear a sweater in the winter months because the warehouse gets quite chilly. It’s a lot of physical work moving things around but we are used to it by now.
