Our workshop, Ketki Dies And Tools Pvt Ltd, is over at Gala No 4 in the Pawna Industrial Estate in Bhosri. If you know the industrial side of Bhosri, you know it’s a busy place with a lot of noise and movement. We spend our time making dies and various tools for other companies. It’s a lot of precision work. We have to be very careful with the measurements because even a tiny mistake can ruin a whole tool. It’s a small place, nothing fancy at all, just filled with the tools we need and the machines we use every day. There’s always the smell of cutting oil and the sound of metal being ground down. We aren't big on talking about ourselves. We’d rather just show people what we can make. We’ve been in this gala for a long time and the neighbors all know us. It’s a tough business sometimes because the costs of materials keep going up, but we manage to keep things going. We don't have a marketing person. Most people who come to us have heard about our work from someone else in the estate. It’s hard work and your clothes usually end up stained with something by the end of the shift. But there’s a good feeling in finishing a tool and knowing it’s exactly what the customer needed. We just take it one day at a time.
