Govt College Khategaon

This college is situated right on Nemawar Road in Khategaon. It’s a place where students from all the nearby villages in Dewas district come to study. Since it’s a government college, things move at their own pace here. We have a lot of paperwork to deal with, and the office is always full of files and old records. The building is quite large, but it feels empty sometimes during the holidays. During the term, however, it’s a different story. The classrooms are full, and you can hear the murmur of lectures coming from behind the doors. The grounds are mostly dirt and grass, and students often sit under the trees to study or just chat between their sessions. It gets very dusty in the dry season, especially with the road being so close. We have a small canteen where everyone gets tea and snacks. The teachers often have to travel quite a distance to get here, so there’s a lot of talk about the commute and the state of the roads. It’s a practical place, focused on getting through the syllabus and preparing for the next round of exams. We don't have many modern gadgets, but we have enough benches and boards to get the work done. It’s a bit of a trek for some of the kids, but they show up anyway. We just keep the doors open and do the work that needs doing.
