Dr S M Karandikar

Dr S M Karandikar’s practice is tucked away in Shweta Corner, which is on the 7th Lane of Prabhat Road in Erandwane. This is one of those older, leafier parts of Pune that still feels a bit like the old days. The clinic is situated in a way that it feels quite private and quiet. We aren't on a big main road with lots of horns honking, which is nice for both us and the patients. The space inside Shweta Corner is simple and functional. We have the usual waiting area and the consultation room where Dr Karandikar sees everyone. Erandwane is a lovely neighborhood, and many of our patients have lived on these lanes for their whole lives. We get a lot of people who just walk over because they live a few houses down. It’s a very personal way to practice medicine. We don't have a giant digital display or a fancy reception desk. Instead, we have paper files and a landline that rings quite often. Sometimes the appointments run a little behind schedule because the doctor likes to take his time with each person. Nobody seems to mind much because they know they will get the same attention when it's their turn. It’s a relaxed atmosphere compared to the big hospitals in the city. We just focus on the work at hand and keeping the clinic running smoothly for the local community.
