You have to look behind Pune Cafe to find us. We are at Shop No. 17 in the Prerna Co-op Society. It’s near KEM Hospital in Rasta Peth. The address can be a bit confusing for people the first time, being at 340/41, but once you find Pune Cafe, you’re basically there. We’ve got a computer setup here for the records, which helps keep things in order. The clinic is small but it has everything we need. Dr. Gitz is usually at the desk looking over the files. Because we are near the hospital, the whole street is always busy with people and ambulances. Our shop stays relatively quiet though. We have a bench outside for when the waiting room gets full. The walls are painted a light color that’s starting to fade near the ceiling. We don't have a big fancy lobby. It’s just a place where people come when they aren't feeling well. We know the other shop owners around Rasta Peth pretty well. We might grab a coffee from the cafe next door when things are slow. It’s a tight-knit spot. We’ve had the same furniture for a long time and it feels like home now. People come in with their stories and we listen. It’s not just about the medicine, it’s about being part of the neighborhood. We stay open late most nights to make sure we see everyone who needs help. There is a stray cat that sleeps near our door every evening.
