Burhani Trading Company is tucked away in Shop 3 at Pratibha Spark. If you’ve ever walked through Budhwar Peth, you know it’s a total maze of streets. Cts No. 581 and 582 are just numbers on the paper, but for us, it’s home. The street outside is always packed with people, scooters, and carts. We spend a lot of time just organizing the shelves because things get messy fast when it's busy. It’s a small shop, but we pack a lot into it. Sometimes the light inside isn't the best, so we keep the door wide open to let the street air in. We’ve known the other shopkeepers around here for years and we look out for each other. We usually share a tea in the afternoon when things slow down for a minute or two. People come in looking for all sorts of things, and we do our best to find what they need in the back room. It’s not a polished place with bright lights or fancy floors. It’s just a trading shop in the middle of a very old, very busy market. Budhwar Peth has a certain smell and sound that you never really forget once you work here for a while. We don't really do much advertising; people just know we’re here at Pratibha Spark. It’s a lot of manual work, carrying boxes and counting items by hand. We like the pace of it, even when it gets a bit overwhelming during the holidays or when the heat really kicks in.
