About Bismillah Chicken Centre – Food & Beverages in Pune
I open the shutters early every morning at Yerwada Kundappa Block. It’s usually cold and quiet then. We get the fresh stock in and start the cleaning. It’s hard work, mostly messy, but that is how it goes here at S No 191. My hands are always busy with the knives and the scales. People from the block come in, some want specific cuts and some just want a whole bird for their Sunday lunch. I have known most of them for years now. We don't have fancy lights or a waiting area with chairs. It is just a counter and the cutting boards. Sometimes the smell of the market is strong, but you get used to it. The shop has stayed the same while the buildings around us changed. We just focus on getting the work done so people can take their meat home and cook. I don't talk much while working because there’s always someone waiting. My apron is never clean for long, that’s just the job. We stay open until the last piece is sold or it gets too late. It is a simple life in this part of Yerwada. Nothing much else to say about it. We are just here doing what we do every day without any fuss. It's a living and it keeps us busy enough throughout the week. Sometimes it's noisy and the traffic gets bad, but we stay right here. We just wait for the regulars to show up every morning.
