Harshada Nursery

Harshada Nursery is located right near the bus stand in Baramati, literally just near the bus stand. It’s a handy spot because people can just hop off the bus and pick up a plant on their way home. We have rows and rows of green things, from small saplings to bigger shrubs that need two people to move. The ground is almost always damp because we’re constantly watering something. We spend a lot of time pulling weeds and making sure the plastic bags haven't split open. It’s a lot of bending over and getting dirt under your fingernails. The noise from the buses coming and going is constant, but you get used to it after a week or two. We don't have a big fancy office, just a small shed where we keep the shears and the accounts. People come in asking what will grow in the shade or how much water a rose needs. We tell them what we know based on what we’ve seen work. It isn't a science lab; it's just a garden that we look after every day. Some days are hot and the plants look a bit tired, just like us. But when it rains, everything brightens up and the whole place smells like wet earth. We’ve been here at the Baramati location for some time now, just growing things and selling them to anyone who wants a bit of green.
