If you look for Shop No. 1 right across from the P.M.C School in Balewad, that is where you will find Balwadkar Agency. It is a lively spot because of the school. In the mornings and afternoons, you can hear the kids shouting and playing, which makes the day feel a bit less long. Our shop is tucked into that space and we have been here for a while now. Inside, it is mostly shelves and boxes. We aren't trying to be the biggest or the most modern place around. We just have our routine and we stick to it. I usually start the day by opening the shutters and sweeping the front step. Then I check what needs to be delivered or picked up. It is a lot of coordination and sometimes things get delayed, but that is just how it goes. We use a lot of paper and pens here, keeping track of everything in our big books. The neighbors are mostly other small business owners, so we help each other out when we can. Sometimes someone will pop in just to borrow a stapler or ask about the weather. It is a simple life and the work is steady. We like being part of the Balewad neighborhood and seeing the same faces every day. It feels like we are part of the local fabric here, just doing our bit near the school. We usually lock up once the school buses have all gone home.
