Balai Stone Udyog

Our place is at Balai Niwas on Bhigwan Road, right in the Gurukul Housing Society area in Baramati. Dealing with stone is dusty work and we have been at it for some time now in the Pune district. The yard is usually full of slabs and pieces that need to go out to different sites. We start our day when the sun is barely up because the afternoon heat in Maharashtra can get a bit much. The noise of the machinery is something you just get used to after a week. Neighbors sometimes drop by just to chat or ask about a small piece for their home. It is not a very big office, mostly just files and a desk where we handle the bills. Most of the guys here are from the nearby villages. We load the trucks manually sometimes if the crane is busy. The road outside can get narrow when the bigger lorries try to turn. It is just how it is. We try to keep the place organized but with stone, things always look a bit cluttered. We aren’t doing anything fancy, just cutting and moving stone day in and day out. If you are looking for the Gurukul society, you’ll probably see our sign near the road. It’s a simple setup and we like it that way. Most days we are just happy to get through the work without any of the machines breaking down on us.
