Aum Granite Tiles

Our place, Aum Granite Tiles, is out in Wagholi at 1403/12. It’s a big open space because we need the room for all the heavy stone slabs. Granite and tiles aren't light, so we spend a lot of time moving things with the crane or just by hand. The ground is usually covered in a bit of stone dust. It’s not the kind of place you come to if you’re wearing your best clothes. We get a lot of trucks coming in and out, dropping off new loads or taking orders to building sites. We’ve been out here in Wagholi for some time now. It’s grown a lot recently, with more buildings going up every month. We aren't sales people with suits. We’re usually wearing boots and old shirts. We show people the different patterns in the stone and let them feel the finish. Every piece of granite is a bit different, so we have to move things around so customers can see what they are actually buying. The sun hits the yard pretty hard in the afternoon, so we try to get the heavy lifting done early. We have a small office where we keep the papers and a phone that rings more than we’d like. It’s simple work, but it’s honest. We just provide the materials and let the builders do the rest. It is a long day but the work gets done.
