Out here in Pallikaranai, things feel a bit different compared to the main city. Our office is on Kalidas Street in Periyar Nagar. It’s No 6. It is a quiet enough street most of the time, though you get the occasional loud truck passing by. The building itself is sturdy and has seen better days, but it serves us well. Inside, there are several rooms where the staff sits and works through the day. We have the usual stacks of paper and computers that act up sometimes. People from the local area know us well. It is easy to reach once you know where the turning is. The sun hits the front of the building quite hard in the mornings. We usually have the curtains drawn to keep the heat out. Sometimes we sit outside for a bit during the break if there is a breeze. The pin code is 601302 and that’s what we put on all the mail. There isn't much to say about the decor because there isn't any. It’s just walls and doors. We keep the gate open during the day so students or whoever needs to visit can just walk in. The street can get a little muddy when it pours, so we keep a couple of mats at the entrance. It’s a plain place for plain work, nothing more to it. We just do our jobs and head home when the day is done.
