Anand Medical

This is Anand Medical on the Pune Sinhgad Road. We are at Shop No 24 in the Inna Apartment building. This part of Pune is called Parvati. The Hotel Ganraj sits right across from us, which is a big landmark around here. People often come over to get something for their stomach after they have eaten at the hotel. We sell medicines and other health items like bandages and syrups. The shop is lined with glass cabinets full of boxes and bottles of all kinds. We have a small fridge for the things that need to stay cold like insulin. The road outside is always full of cars and buses making noise. It is one of the busiest roads in Pune. We stay behind the counter and wait for people with their prescriptions. Some of the handwriting on the papers from the doctors is very hard to read. We have been here for quite some time now. The furniture is getting a bit old and the paint is peeling in spots, but it works fine. We don't have any staff, just us family members taking turns to sit here. Sometimes people come in just to ask for directions since we are on the main road and easy to see. We don't mind helping out. It is part of being in a neighborhood. We stay open late because you never know when someone might need something urgently. It is a responsibility to keep a medical shop running. We just keep our heads down and do the work. The fans hum all day long.
