Down at Baner Gaon 2, Ajay Shutters Fabrications is usually making a lot of noise. That’s just the nature of the work when you’re dealing with metal and shutters. There’s always the sound of cutting or welding going on in the background. It’s a bit messy with scraps of iron and tools lying around, but we know where everything is. Baner Gaon used to be a lot more like a village, but now there’s so much building going on around us. We’ve been doing this for a long time, so people in the area know to come here when they need something made. It’s a dusty job. We get covered in soot and grime by lunch time. No one wears a suit here. It’s all about getting the hands dirty and making sure the shutters are solid. We don’t have a fancy showroom. What you see is what you get—a workshop with a lot of heavy equipment. The floor is concrete and usually has some oil spills. We work hard and then go home. It’s a straightforward life. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait around, but usually, we’re busy from sunrise. If you come by, you’ll hear us before you see us. We’ve built a lot of the gates and shutters you see in the nearby streets. It’s just what we do. We don't need any big speeches to explain that we work with iron.
