Ponnamaravathi Organic Collective Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our group, the Ponnamaravathi Organic Collective Farmers Producer Company Limited, operates out of 1/155 in Melalalampatti. That’s in the Kallampatti area, near Thirumayam in Pudukkottai. We are basically a bunch of farmers who decided to get together to make things work better for everyone. Our office is a simple building in the village, nothing fancy at all. We spend a lot of time talking to each other about crops and organic methods. Being a producer company means we handle everything from the seeds to the final product. It’s a lot of responsibility, especially when you have so many families involved. The 621306 area is where most of us grew up, so we know every inch of the land. We don't have a PR team or a marketing department. We just have our collective knowledge and the work we do with our hands. Sometimes meetings go on for hours because everyone has an opinion on how to handle the latest harvest. It’s a bit messy at times, but that’s what happens when you have a real collective. We aren't trying to impress anyone with big corporate talk. We just want to get a fair price for what we grow and keep the soil healthy for the next generation. It’s hard work and the days are long, but doing it together makes it a bit easier. We’re just local people trying to make a go of it, helping each other through the seasons.
